Problems with the Farberware FCP512S 12-Cup Cordless Percolator

The common complaints on the Farberware FCP512S 12-Cup Cordless Percolator is its durability. Its buttons usually start to flake and eventually crack within just one year of use. Its glass bulb located at its top is also now made of plastic which breaks off easily. Serving coffee directly from its pot can be a bit slow and it sometimes gluts, making it tricky for you to pour coffee into your cup. It usually continues to work for more than a year but will look bad eventually.

My husband and I have used Farberware Fast Perk coffee pots for over 20 years. I love them, they are fast and coffee is hot. I have had a 4 cup, 8 cup and 12 cup. Both the 12 and recently now the 8 cup stop being hot and then stop all together. I think it is related to how tight the cord fits into the pot. We have to wiggle it to get the plug out. My husband just took our pot apart and it isn’t the heating element or plug but appears ti be a little fuse that connects the soft rope element. Possibly in wiggling the cord it blows the fuse? I see a number of parts available to buy online but not the fuse. Without the fuse my husband is afraid if we forgot and left the pot on that we might have a fire. I love these coffee pots but hesitate to buy another. This last one was only two years old.

I purchased the Farberware FCP512S 12-Cup Cordless Percolator at a flea market.Unfortunately, no instructions for use came w/it. I have figured out how to set the clock however I am having trouble programing it to come on at a certain time. I would appreciate someone telling me how to set the timer.
    Many Thanks!

I have the Faberware 4 cup electric percolator for about 4 years. Within the first month the handle broke off because the lid was so hard to get off. I received a new one free (still under warranty). Eventually, that one broke off. No longer under warranty, my husband got a screw and screwed it on the lid. That is loose and rusty. Now the heating element went. I have a Faberware grill for over 25 years that I couldn’t live without, this is why I bought the coffee pot without any research. I have written the company and got a reply equivalent to, tough luck. Needless to say, I’m done with Faberware

What I googled was, “where can I get parts for my farberware electric coffee maker”. I was surprised to see all the hits.

Try Goodman’s small appliance housewares & buy-it-now-store.com – I found both by googling farberware electric coffee maker. Other sites there too. If you send anything to this email address, please mention the farberware comment so I won’t delete it.

Take your pot to a camping goods store and find an aluminum stove top percolator with a glass top that fits. I found one that fits perfectly and you can watch the coffee perk

We’ve had this percolator for almost two years. Within the first six months the plastic knob cracked even though we never touched it. Farberware replaced it, since it was still under warranty, but the new knob broke within a few months also. The buttons have all cracked. Even though we like the percolator, we would never buy it again as the quality and durability are not what we expected from Farberware.

got a very old stylish sunbeam perc from the folks. Stainless steel, looks and works fab. The Java tastes superb. Head down to a fleamarket or a second hand store and pick one of these up and try it. Seems all the bad hype is bunk.

I’ve had Farberware electric percolators for nearly all my adult life and FPC512 is the biggest disappointment I’ve had. Looking for a possible recall info.

Heating element(s) seemingly gave up so quickly that I’ve gone back to my old faithful farberware percolator.

If anyone know about product recall info pls submit followup comment.

    Thanx

this is our 2nd farberware 12 cup perculator and we LOVE it. the first one did have the buttons that peeled but i would say that was more like 2 years. the 2nd one had the problem with the plastic knob. my husband was able to go to a hardware store and buy a real glass knob. we love this perculator with its features and have been trying to buy another one for my daughter who has requested it. we all love the coffee it brews!
