Complaints on the Nespresso D290 include its too specialized feature of only using capsules, making it a bit expensive as capsules are not that widely available.

Unlike other espresso makers, this coffee machine cannot use any other coffee grounds, narrowing down a user’s options even though there are a lot of coffee blends in capsules available. Other problems encountered include the Nespresso D290C Concept Automatic Espresso Machine’s vague instructions which make it complicated for users. This takes some time to get used to, which can spoil one’s craving for espresso, making it an inconvenience.

I’ve had two of these (I know, I’m dumb) and they’ve both broken just after the warranty expired. My option is a $175 fix or a new machine. This is ridiculous considering the cost of the machine. I’m going back to my old coffee pot. I always had to put my coffee in an insulated mug to keep it hot longer than 5 minutes.

My unit quit working after minimal use. They told me this was happening to my particular unit but because it was just over a year old my option was to pay another 150$ for a refurbished unit. Service has been poor and I suspect they are marketing a substandard machine. I’ll never buy another Nesspresso machine and you should think twice if you’re thinking about the same.

I bought a d 100 and the resulting drink was only 150 degrees. I took it back the next day. I’ve tested a few more in the store since and they are all the same. I’m not impressed. But they have done a good job marketing it, so it seems most believe it to be perfect. I don’t even find it acceptable much less perfect.
