La Pavoni espresso machines share one of the most respected pedigrees in the world of coffee. La Pavoni Spa was founded by Desiderio Pavoni in 1905 in the small town of Via Parini, Italy, but it was not Pavoni’s first introduction in the coffee world. His first invention, the very first espresso machine on record, had been patented in 1903 by Luigi Bezzera, and installed in his cafe Ideale in 1903. It was the la Pavoni espresso machine, and the very first of its kind to use electrical power to heat water and pump it through coffee grounds. The la Pavoni espresso machine could make a cup of espresso in one minute.
The new espresso system set the standard for espresso machines that would stand until after World War II. In 1948, la Pavoni introduced an innovative new espresso machine – one with a horizontal boiler. The new la Pavoni espresso machine did away with the burnt taste that was characteristic of espresso made with older machines by eliminating the forcing of steam through the grounds. The new standard was set, and eventually became the standard by which espresso is judged to this day.
Further innovations and improvements followed, and in 1961 la Pavoni introduced the very first espresso machine made expressly for home use. The Europiccolo employed all the same quality measures found in la Pavoni commercial espresso machines, but was scaled for the home kitchen. For the first time, coffee lovers could enjoy coffee at home just the way they liked them at the cafe.
Today, la Pavoni manufactures three lines of La Pavoni espresso machines – a commercial line, a domestic line and a line of espresso vending machines. All of them conform to the same high standards that have made La Pavoni a name of distinction in the coffee industry. The La Pavoni espresso machines for the home include both lever and pump machines, and still include the Europiccola in five different models. In addition, the domestic line of La Pavoni espresso machines includes semi-automatic and automatic espresso and cappuccino makers.
For over 100 years, La Pavoni has been at the forefront of innovative espresso machine design, and their commitment to quality and service keep them there to this day. Whether building machines for the home, the restaurant or for vending in a hospitality setting, La Pavoni remains the number one name in trust and innovation.
