Some of the best coffee projects we know of got their start on Kickstarter. From...
The KitchenAid KCM511OB JavaStudio is a 10-cup programmable coffee maker that after some recall headaches now brews a rich and flavorful cup of coffee that is full-bodied and delicious. The advanced temperature control monitors the coffees temperature and adjusts it for optimum temperature, and the glass carafe is dishwasher safe.
Product Description:
The KitchenAid KCM511OB JavaStudio is an easy to use 10 cup coffee maker that uses the sophistication of an extra-wide JavaSpa shower-type head to soak the coffee granules in the filter basket evenly, using a powerful 1100 watt heat pump. It has an advanced electronic temperature control to keep just the right temperature on the warming tray and the coffee brewed at premium temperature for drinking and it has an easy pour, no drip feature, plus a 10 cup carafe that is dishwasher safe.
It features an elegant design, easy front-loading fill system, digital timer and clock, cord storage, auto shutoff, and no fuss replacement warranty.
Pros:
The coffeemaker works great when you follow the instructions in the manual. It has an automatic timer, which brews excellent coffee, and it is easy to set up and use. The burner stays hot and keeps your coffee at the right temperature all day, and the replacement parts are inexpensive and easy to order. The machine is well built and shuts off after two hours, and it will let you pause brew to sneak a cup out before it is done and it doesn’t seem to affect the flavor.
Cons:
The KitchenAid KCM511OB JavaStudio seems to be a somewhat less than reliable coffee maker that brews coffee but doesn’t maintain a hot enough temperature to make the coffee pleasurable. When the coffee maker does work, it makes good tasting coffee, but barely warm. This machine also has a rear load feature that makes it awkward as you cannot see the fill gauge, plus it seems to overflow regularly onto the counter which makes a real mess.
This model seems to have been recalled and the new replacement seems not to perform any better than the last.
The Final Verdict:
The KitchenAid KCM511OB JavaStudio when working seems to work fine, but if you don’t follow directions laid out in the manual, it appears that the machine is soon misbehaving and seems somewhat unreliable.
