My birthday is on Valentine’s Day and I usually end up with one present for both occasions from my sweetie. No complaints, just so you understand why I’m jumping out of my skin with joy! I have wanted a really good espresso/cappuccino/latte machine for a long time. I hinted at it to my hubby before Christmas hoping he’d put one under the tree or hide it like an Easter egg for all I cared. But, it wasn’t there. Instead, he surprised me with a DeLonghi ECAM22110SB Espresso Machine! I couldn’t believe my eyes! It has everything and more!

I couldn’t wait to try it. I wonder if he got this one because it makes two cups at a time? When we came back from dinner, I rushed into the kitchen to try it out. I put the beans into the holder in the top of the machine and hit the direct-to-brew aroma button. As promised, the DeLonghi Compact Espresso Machine slowly released water over the grinds and the aroma was sensational. The fresh scent of ground coffee is so promising.

I know that a lot of really diehard espresso lovers enjoy the challenge of grinding the beans with a nut cracker and picking out the ones that are too large or too small. I don’t go that far. I just want the coffee ground so that makes espresso. I don’t want to tamp or stamp. I don’t need to pull levers or twist handles. The espresso machine is automatic – super compact automatic. It does all the work for me. I just push a button and enjoy the results.

The DeLonghi ECAM22110SB froth system mixes hot steam with the milk and froths to a bubbling foam that floats into your espresso. It’s so light and at the same time rich in flavor and creamy. It blends into the coffee without stirring. A girlfriend of mine has one of the full-size DeLonghi espresso machines and mine works just as well as hers. It’s so easy to do. I used a small metal pitcher that I got when we married. I just slid it under the nozzle and pushed the button. I didn’t have to do a thing.

In the last couple weeks, we’ve been playing with all the settings to see if we prefer one more than another. We’ve also been experimenting with different mixes of beans. We’ve been trying different coarseness setting, too. We decided we wanted to have our own “brand” of coffee.

We have narrowed it down to three combinations. We still haven’t decided on which strength we like best. It seems that it differs with each of your special bean blends. I had to write it in a notebook so that we wouldn’t forget. The espresso machine lets you set the temperature, too. With all the various settings, you have to find a combination that it just right for you.

I know it’s not nice to ask what a present cost. But, I did anyway. It didn’t make the DeLonghi ECAM22110SB Compact Espresso Machine more important to me. I knew he spent quite a bit on this present. Still, it does make a girl feel special when her sweetie thinks enough of her to buy something she really wants and doesn’t try to save a buck doing it.
