Some of the best coffee projects we know of got their start on Kickstarter. From...
The Cuisinart Extreme Brew 12-Cup Programmable Coffee Maker caught my initial attention because it was much more affordable in comparison with other brands. I have had a Cuisinart appliance before and much like this one, it faired pretty well in terms of value. Though it is not considered a high-end model of any sorts, the basic and extra features offered make it a decent purchase. There are many things I love about this machine and just a few minor details that I could live without.
Product Features
Typical features of a great coffee maker include the categories of capacity, quality, and convenience. First off, the Cuisinart DCC-2650 Extreme Brew Coffee Maker comes integrated with a commercial grade filter that is permanent and does not require the user buy disposable ones. This helps to save money and also takes away the cleaning process. In addition to the quality filter, there is also a water filter made of charcoal which helps to remove impurities and keep additives from affecting the overall taste.
In terms of cleaning, the Cuisinart Extreme Brew doesn’t require much of it. There is a self-cleaning feature which can be used as often as you need. This doesn’t only benefit the user who loathes cleaning their coffee maker but it also ensures that the taste will be consistent and free from any other lingering flavors. The 12-cup capacity is also worth mentioning because the Cuisinart DCC-2650 works considerably quick for so many servings.
What I Loved about the Cuisinart DCC-2650 Coffee Maker
There are multiple reasons why I love my Cuisinart DCC-2650 Extreme Brew Coffee Maker and first up is the question of taste. I expected to be lenient when grading the flavor since this machine didn’t cost me too much money at all. But to my surprise, the first cup tasted just as good as professionally brewed coffee you buy at the store. My mind was sure that I would never buy another cup again and instead I would save tons of money by making my own of equal or better quality.
The next reason to love the Cuisinart DCC-2650 is that the lid that lifts does not accumulate water droplets like countless other machines do. This keeps the condensation from dripping down all over the machine and my kitchen counter. Though this seems like a minor detail for many other drinkers, clean operation is one of my priorities in a coffee maker. Other machines are likely to drip at some point in time and even if this one does, it keeps it under wraps on its’ own.
After using the coffee maker during the first day, I immediately noticed that it is at least 25% faster than my old machine. Again, I anticipated that there would be some sort of compromise in terms of flavor but there was no bitterness or funny taste to report. I was more than pleased from the very first sip of coffee.
My Not-So-Favorite Features of the Cuisinart DCC-2650 Coffee Maker
There were a few tiny disappointments when I received my Cuisinart DCC-2650 Coffee Maker. First is the exterior material which looks like steel but is actually hard plastic. Though this does not affect the overall performance, I was expecting a harder body to it. Another minor flaw I noticed was that the design logo was slightly tacky because of the large bold letters. After enjoying my first cup of great tasting coffee made with the Cuisinart DCC-2650, I had already forgotten about the cheesy design.

I totally agree that the fact the Cuisinart DCC-2650 Extreme Brew Coffee Maker is plastic, not steel, is a big disappointment. However, cosmetic issues aside, this is a great programmable coffeemaker.
I like the fact that you can see the water level from the outside and that condensation is not a problem with this machine. The coffee is excellent and you can really feel the quality in its taste. Overall, I am very happy with my purchase!
