Some of the best coffee projects we know of got their start on Kickstarter. From...
I am married to a chef. On one hand, it’s fantastic because he loves his own cooking and will cook at home as well. I don’t know where anything is in the kitchen except for the coffee maker and all the fixin’s. When our third coffee pot gave up the ghost my chef husband decided he would take over the job of finding a replacement. Up until then, it was my job to furnish that one item! When he got home, he showed me the receipt for what appeared to be just another coffee maker.
I flipped! Let me warn you, it is a luxury item if you are buying this for your home. He tried explaining to me that the Bunn VP17-1SS Single Pot Coffee Brewer is the last coffee maker we would ever use. I agreed because in my mind I thought we’d be coffee maker poor for the rest of our lives. Well, that was in 1996 and this same coffee maker is still happily making coffee every day.

I have to tell you a funny story about this coffee brewer. After flipping my wig over the price – and it hasn’t gone up but a couple of bucks since we got one – I decided to make a pot of coffee. I read the set-up directions three times. It says to keep the pot unplugged and pour in the water allowing it to “spill over”. Well, now what coffee machine ever says that? I knew I was misreading these directions. I called in Chef Hubby to help. Well, let me tell you why you do it this way. The BUNN VP17-1SS Coffee Brewer has NO on/off switch! Now, think about that for a minute. MY unit has been “on” since 1996!
It idles along all by itself waiting for someone to call upon it to make the fastest cup of coffee in town. No kidding! You pour water in and play beat the clock to get the pot under it! The coffee comes pouring out within seconds. These two words are quite true – pouring and seconds. If you have never seen this one operate, get ready to be nothing short of flabbergasted!
I can start a pot of coffee, grab my laptop and my coffee is ready to drink! I don’t even have time to login to my home page before the coffee is ready. That might not mean much to you, but when I am on the phone and wishing I had a cup of coffee in my hand, I bless my husband for buying this Bunn Single Pot Coffee Brewer. Just so you know the red button is to turn the warmer plate on and off. But, that has nothing to do with the machine itself. The stainless steel construction is so easy to keep clean and now that “stainless” appliances are the “in” thing, it matches my new stove and refrigerator. The BUNN VP17-1SS Coffee Brewer is scratch resistant, too. So, you can use soap and water to clean it instead of having to buy the “stainless steel” cleaner.
Most commercial grade coffee machines need to be hooked up to a water line in order to work. Not the Bunn Single Pot Coffee Brewer! That is important if I take it to the church suppers or allow my event planner friend to use it for some activity. I haven’t allowed my friend to borrow it in spite of her begging.
This Bunn Single Pot Coffee Brewer is the same kind that the restaurant uses- which is why my husband was so pleased with his choice. It is a commercial grade machine, but it works just fine in my kitchen.
