I agree 100%. Regardless of the extenuating circumstances, it is the concept which is really the whole point. What is important here, is that the consumer continues to be reminded of the conditions which existed prior to the Fair Trade Act being implemented, and more importantly, the vast improvement which now exist due to its implementation. We as human beings need to step out of our cultural boxes, and open our eyes to the world around us, sometimes we need a wee bit of help in this area. The consumers which have been enlightened, have shown to have no problem paying more for a Fair Trade Act product. I personally choose Fair Trade Act items for the piece of mind I get knowing that the product represents corporations that are humanity and environmentally sound. I often ponder why we needed the Fair Trade Act in the first place, shouldn't it have always been like this? Although, I do think there is merit regarding in the issue of larger farms which do not qualify, but practice proper environmental and human rights practices. I feel there is a need for other certification organizations to emerge, or possibly additional departments to grow from the existing certification organizations. With any environmental and human rights concept, metamorphoses and evolution is a necessity for it to adapt to the ever growing and changing world we live in. If the corporations involved stopped finding fault and cooperated together, they might just come up with a solution. One can only dream!

We consumers have made our choice very clear about Fair Trade Act practices, although, I feel we forget the power we possess together as consumers. Often times corporations are viewed as such mighty powers, its so easy to forget that us consumers together are far far more powerful and mighty, we just need proper information. Imagine the impact we consumers have if we boycotted a corporation, even if it was for only 1 day. We have the ability to make world wide change in the palm of our hands, all that is needed is the cooperation and involvement of non corrupt television media organizations. I seem to be rambling on a bit here, I think I need another cup of coffee.. Peace Out!
