Cuisinart DGB-600BC Grind and Brew
The Cuisinart DGB-600BC Grind and Brew Thermal Coffee Maker costs about $129.00, after rebate of $20. This coffee maker is also available with a Cuisinart GFT-B Gold Tone Coffee Filter at a price of $159.00. The machine can grind coffee beans and brew coffee at at the same time. The charcoal filter provided in the coffee maker removes chlorine and odors from tap waters which is another valuable addition. The thermal carafe is double-wall insulated brushed stainless steel and can keep up to 10 cups of 5-ounce brewed coffee. The brew can be paused for mid-brew pouring. The grinder can be removed for easy cleaning up. The coffeemaker measures 15 by 8 by 7-1/2 inches and comes with a 3-year warranty.
When you are making less than 5 cups of coffee, it would be better to use the 1 to 4 cups setting, which improves extraction and heat. The timer can be preset so that the coffee is ready exactly when you get up. The disposable charcoal filter has to be changed every few
months to have proper removal of chlorine and odor from tap water. The brew pause allows pouring before the brewing is complete. The removal of the grinder facilitates easy cleaning. The double-wall insulated brushed stainless steel thermal carafe is able to keep 10 cups coffee hot for several hours.
However, the water level in the reservoir is a bit difficult to see. Further, after every brew, 7 parts need to be cleaned. The quality of the coffee is also not very strong, in fact very weak. The basket door also opens very often, flooding the counter with water or coffee.
Moreover, if you need really piping hot coffee, you have to warm the carafe before brewing. Overall, the Cuisinart DGB-600BC Grind and Brew coffee maker is definitely not worth the high price set for it. There are several coffeemakers under $100 or even $50 that makes great coffee or espresso. It is very difficult to recommend this machine.
