The Short Version: I've just read the comments before me. And the bottom line is that I've got the same problem.. again. This DCC 2000 is beginning to show the identical symptoms to his older brother, who was replaced less than a year ago. And that one lasted about 2 years. So, being a "coffee breathing" Quality Assurance Engineer who has naturally seen many many coffee makers (none as short-lived as this one), I've opted for a Bunn Commercial unit.. no bells, no whistles, just Made in U.S., Stainless Steel, Grind the coffee and put it in the basket.. pour the water.. and 3 minutes to 10 cups of hot joe.. bingo. Yup, the initial investment is high, but how many coffee makers do YOU wanna buy in the next 10 years? Nothing against China (which is where most of the $10 to $150 coffee makers are made), but they don't even come close to the Quality of Germany, Holland, Switzerland, or the U.S.... where you DO pay more.. but you pay for Quality and Service. And like most of you, I "banked" on the Cuisinart name when I bought the DCC 2000... No Longer.

I have experience the same problems with my DCC-2000 and I already have the refurbished one. No one seems to have any integrity when it comes to customer service. They have a proud name in the beginning and flop on the future products and continue to rebuff people when the product does not work properly. Mine will not brew on demand or otherwise.

does anyone know how to turn this maker on if the spring loaded brew button won't make the coffee brew
I love this coffee maker but would love it more if it brewed. Sometimes it will now it won’t

Our second DCC-2000 is not working after plugging into several outlets. This has happened both times after we had coffee maker for a year.

Same as all the others. After about 6 months it started acting up. replug and it would work for awhile. then replug every day. now its dead. put my 11 year old capresso back in use. terrible quality on this product and made a bad name of cuisinart to me now.

I am on DCC-2000 #2 and the 2nd one is doing the same thing the 1st one did which is just stop working & act like there's no power to the machine. We have to unplug it and plug it back in and it usually will work again but reading the various comments about this coffee maker it is obvious this is a flawed product and I would caution against buying one of these. If Cuisinart fails to send me another, this one is getting whacked with my sledgehammer then thrown in the trash but not before I make a scathing video and post it on YouTube about this crappy coffee maker.

It doesn't "amaze me" that a coffee maker can make a great cup o' joe in the 21st century. What does amaze me is that a coffee maker can fail to work at all so routinely! I can't believe that the electronics are so buggy in the DCC 2000: sometimes I can set the Auto On, sometimes I can't; sometimes I can turn it on manually, sometimes it won't even do that! Same with the clock settings. This is my second DCC 2000, I didn't bother with customer service for the first one either, just thought it was a fluke. I'm embarrassed for Cuisinart for sending out products like this.

After having the DCC2000 for about 1-1/2 years, one day it just quit working - looks like it isn't even getting power as there is no time on the clock. I called Cuisinart's customer service number. The woman explained to me that I had not cleaned it enough with vinegar (I had followed the directions in the owner's manual) and to pour straight vinegar into it and let it sit overnight. Then to try plugging it in again and see if the clock works. She said if it didn't work to try it again and let it sit overnight again. She said if the clock works, to then run vinegar & water through a cycle, then plain water. She stated if that didn't work that they would then accept it for replacement since it is still under warranty. I have a science/technical background. I don't get the connection between the clock not working and possible calcium build-up on the heating element"?? It does not compute.

Just like all the other comments about the DCC 2000, we play coffee roulette with our machine on a regular basis. It seems to work properly in spurts which may last up to a month at a time. Then out of nowhere, the coffee brewing doesn't start up. After turning it on and off a few dozen times, plug and unplug, a wack on the side of the brewer and a small prayer! it starts sometimes. Definately a switch or thermal fuse defect. Also can't change timer setting.
Mr. Coffee with your paper filters here we come.
Wish I had read this before purchase.
Will no longer purchase any product under this brand.

I've had mine for a year now, it works just fine, without any problems. I just have a few minor complaints as mentioned in the review.
When you lift the lid to add water or clean it out, there's always water built up and it will spill on the counter. It's also a bit of a pain to fill the reservoir, it always results in a puddle of water on the counter.
Also just to note, make sure you clean out the tank once you're done with your coffee, if the coffee dries up inside the tank it is extremely difficult to get completely clean. Also as stated before the "coffee gauge" is not accurate, but I've realized that it's empty when it says it is between 1/8 to 1/4 full, not a big deal.
Other then those points I am happy with this coffee maker, it does produce a great tasting cup of coffee and the last cup is as good as the first and it's never burnt.
Overall I am pretty happy with it, I've just learned to deal with the wet counters.
